Stephen Arthur Tuck

Stephen Arthur Tuck, 77, of Gardendale, Alabama, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 22, 1947, in Birmingham, Alabama, Steve grew up in Mt. Olive, AL, where he also raised his family with the love of his life, Sherry. His life was defined by his deep and unwavering love for His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His faith guided him in every aspect of life—whether in his service to his family, his community, or his church. Steve proudly served in the Army National Guard, demonstrating the same sense of duty and integrity that would guide him throughout his life. He later retired from UPS after 31 years of dedicated service, where he built lifelong friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues. A devoted member of Gardendale First Baptist Church, Steve’s faith was at the center of everything he did. He served the Lord faithfully through his church as a Deacon and Deacon Secretary for many years, was actively involved in the Pastor’s Class, and helped launch the church’s shuttle ministry. He also participated in Evangelism Explosion, where he found joy in training others to confidently share their faith. His desire to help others come to know Christ was evident in every part of his life, and his example of living out his faith continues to inspire all who knew him. Steve loved spending time with friends on the golf course, where he appreciated both the game and the fellowship it brought. His friendships were meaningful, and the time spent together on the course was often filled with conversation and shared laughter. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sherry Tuck; his children, Tracey Tuck Mayfield (Robin), Carey Tuck (Katie), and Lauren Tuck Morrison (Bryan); his grandchildren, Haley Mayfield Schultz (Curtis), Jacob Mayfield, Tucker Mayfield, Shaw Tuck, Abbey Grace Tuck, Brooks Morrison, and Haven Morrison; and his great-granddaughters, Heidi Schultz and Ada Schultz. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was lovingly known as “Papa” or “Pop,” a title he cherished. He loved them dearly and poured into their lives with joy, kindness, laughter and guidance. He is also survived by his brother, Robert “Sonny” Tuck. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Theo Tuck and Mary Louise Todd Tuck, and his siblings, Sarah Tuck McDaniel, Jimmy Tuck, Douglas Tuck, and Mary Tuck Grimes. A private service was held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Steve’s family takes comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior and are grateful for the legacy of love, faith, and service he leaves behind. His love for the Lord and his example of Christlike living will continue to impact those who had the honor of knowing him. “You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory…And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:24-26 The family is grateful to the caregivers of ACG Hospice, Cornerstone Home Health and Ms.Gail for the care and love they provided during Steve’s last days on this earth.
