Eva Bolden Glaze

Eva Bolden Glaze went home to be with the Lord August 29, 2017. She was born in Gardendale, October 28, 1926. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lathey and Josie Bolden; her husband of 71 years, Charles R. Glaze; daughter, Carol Glaze Chambers Misconis; brothers, Calvin and Terry Bolden; and sister, Decima Jones. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Glaze Shanahan (Bill); grandchildren, Jay Chambers (Dawn), Jill Robinson (Marcus), Bryan Shanahan (Michele), and Paige Martinez (Steve); great-grandchildren, Parker and Jenna Chambers, Jordan and Paisley Shanahan, Ashton and Coe Robinson, Eva and Scarlett Martinez; sisters, Joyce Hartsfield, Dina Sprouse; brothers, Daniel Bolden (Betty) and Raymond Bolden (Joyce); and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Glaze graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School and attended classes at UAB. She was a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church for over 65 years. She was brought up in a musical family singing together and playing the piano every day. She enjoyed playing at Covenant Place once a week while residents ate lunch. Mrs. Glaze, throughout her life was doing God’s work teaching Sunday School at First Baptist, and working with the Kindergarten music ministry for many years. She was involved with many community activities such as PTA, The Civitan Club, Gardendale Historical Society and many others. Eva was blessed with a beautiful, loving family. She married the love of her life and best friend March 5, 1945. They loved to travel and they would take family vacations and trips to see God’s beautiful creations. Charles and Eva raised their two daughters with love, patience, discipline, and humility. From the beginning they dedicated their marriage and their girls to God, and taught them the splendor of the gospels. She continued throughout her life to share her faith to all those who did not know the Lord. She was a blessing to those around her. Visitation will be Friday, September 1, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at The New Gardendale Funeral Home. Burial will be at Moncrief Cemetery.
