Claud T. Labore

Claud T. Labore (Pawpaw) went to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 27, 2017 at age 90. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Katherine Estelle (Katie) Labore; one grandson, Anthony (Tony) Labore Thomas; one great grandson, Carson Nolan Thomas; one sister and one brother. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Carbonie; children, Marion Reese (Pat), Jeannie Kanady (Dale), Claudine Erwin (Ronnie), Pat Foster (Jim), Brenda Jones; Ken Carbonie (Marilyn); and Mitch Carbonie (Brandi); fourteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; brothers Johnny Rock (Gail), Dale Rock (Betty); sisters Gail Travis (Bill), Zelda Trujillo, Vivian Rock, and Nedra Lilly; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Labore proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II. He was stationed in Japan where he worked as an X-ray Technician, worked in the emergency room, operating room, dentist office, laboratory, drove the ambulance and also worked in the hospital ward. He was honored in Washington, DC and by Mortimer Jordan High School as a World War II Veteran. He retired from Hayes Aircraft after 22 years of service. He then was a master electrician with Jim Walters Resources at Adger, AL while running his own business, North Jefferson Electric Company for 60 years. Mr. Labore was very active in the Shriners Hospital where he was a transportation specialist for sick and burned children. He also worked in the Ham Radio Unit for the Shriners. He was a member of North Shelby Baptist Church. He loved God, life, people, and fishing. Visitation will be Monday, May 1, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of The New Gardendale Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Providence Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriners Hospital.
