Charles Edwin McQueen

Charles Edwin “Pete” McQueen, age 92, of Good Hope, Alabama left this world September 5, 2025, very peacefully and comfortably with his family around him. He was born in Fort Gay, West Virginia on December 18, 1932 as the only child of Claude and Lottie McQueen. He graduated from Fort Gay High School and during his school days, he was the quarterback for the football team. In 1952, he joined the US Navy and served our country on the USS Yorktown as an aviation machinist. Following the Navy, he continued using his talents and skills in the electronic business. During his earlier years, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and playing darts with the guys. Following his retirement, in 2000, he moved to Cullman, Alabama and enjoyed life on Smith Lake for many years. He had a good, long life and was ready to meet his Heavenly Father. Pete is survived by his wife of 13 years, Juanita; his children John McQueen (Donna), Leslie McQueen, Charles “Chuck” McQueen, and Darren McQueen; step-children Dianna LaVigne (Todd), John Felkins (Anna) William Felkins (Carmen), Denise Kincaid (Richard), Lee Wynn; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four great- great grandchildren, and two nieces, Donna Green and Linda Barnwell (Robert). He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy McQueen, his mother, Lottie McQueen, his father, Claude McQueen, and his sister, Edna Brown. Pete was a witty, funny guy who loved people and was loved by all who knew him. Pete and Juanita met on January 1, 2012 at a karaoke event and then eloped on February 14, 2012 to Dauphin Island for a small intimate wedding. After that time, they lived life to the fullest, enjoying many great adventures such as singing karaoke, road trips, cruises, etc. They were both always up for a new adventure. The family would like to extend deep appreciation to Aveanna Hospice of Cullman and the excellent care they provided to both Pete and Juanita. Recognition for a great job to the RNs, Sean and Jennifer, social worker, Michelle, and chaplain for the support they provided. Pete especially enjoyed reminiscing with the chaplain about their time in the US Navy. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Gardendale Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 1p.m. to 2 p.m. and the service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial in Good Hope Cemetery following the service.
