William Wesley Logan
September 2, 1933 - February 21, 2020
William “Bill” Wesley Logan passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at age 86. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lela Sloan Logan; one brother, Hoyt Logan; brother-in-law, Charles (Gail) Sloan; many nieces and nephews; many employees who have been like their children through the years; and other extended family and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother. Bill and Lela have owned Logan’s General Store in the West Blount Community for over 50 years. The area has changed over time but Logan’s General Store has been a landmark through it all because of Bill and Lela and this prompted a nomination for an article in Positive Maturity’s 2nd Annual 2015 Top 50 Over 50. Bill has always supported his community in every way including financially and emotionally. He has always set the highest example of citizenship and service and this will continue with the legacy he has left in those he has invested in. It would have been easy to stop long ago but he never did, he always kept serving, contributing, encouraging, investing and striving to make the community a better place. He has given countless young people opportunities through their business. He will be missed immeasurably not only by his family but in a community in which he is so dearly loved. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 25, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The New Gardendale Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Dailey’s Chapel Cemetery in Rosa, AL.
