Jonathan Scott Sartain

Jonathan Scott Sartain was born on April 16, 2001 in Jacksonville, Alabama and passed away August 26, 2019 in Hayden, Alabama. His parents are Timothy S. Sartain and Linda P. Sartain of Hayden, Alabama. Jonathan has two sisters, Bethany and Amy Sartain. Jonathan graduated from Everest Academy in May 2019 with academic honors. During his senior year, he was dual-enrolled at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama on a welding scholarship. Jonathan earned the rank of Eagle Scout while a member of Boy Scout Troop 212 in Hayden, Alabama. Jonathan’s Eagle project was at Rickwood Caverns State Park, where he was also employed for two summers. Jonathan loved the ourdoors. He spent many weekends camping and going on backpacking trips. He attended Boy Scout Summer Camp at Camp Sequoyah where he learned many Scout skills and earned a number of merit badges. In 2016, he attended the National Youth Leadership Training. Jonathan’s interest in welding was sparked by his work on the metal working and welding merit badges. Jonathan also learned CPR and basic first aid while in Scouts. Jonathan is survived by his parents Tim and Linda, his sisters Bethany and Amy, his grandparents Ed and Sue Payne, his grandfather Leon Sartain and a great number of extended family members and friends. Jonathan was preceded in death by his grandmother, Levenia Sartain. Jonathan may not be physically present with us at this time but his quick wit, compassionate heart and warm smile with forever live in our hearts. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Boy Scout Troop 212 in Hayden, AL. A Celebration of Life Service will be on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Hayden United Methodist Church Family Life Center at 3:00 p.m.
