    Cheryl "Cheri" Sharitt

    July 16, 1948 - March 8, 2021

Cheryl Ann Sharitt, who was well known as Cheri, was born July 16, 1948 in Birmingham, Alabama. She spent her young years in Fairmont outside of North Birmingham before her family moved to Pinson where they were members at Pinson Church of Christ. She was married for almost 47 years to Paschal Sharitt (known as “Pat”), who preceded her in death in 2011. Through her influence, Pat attended church with Cheri and eventually became a Christian at South Jacksonville Church of Christ. They had three children while they were stationed in Mayport, Florida. In 1974, the family moved to Corbin, Kentucky where Pat was a Navy recruiter and they welcomed their fourth child. The family has many fond memories of their time and the relationships with the family of Christians at Brummett Church of Christ. When Cheri and Pat returned to Birmingham after Pat retired from the Navy, they attended North Birmingham Church of Christ, eventually settling at North Gardendale Church of Christ, attending there for almost forty years. She recently became a member of Gardendale Church of Christ where two of her children attend. Her children are Laurie Lee Sharitt, Kelly Neal Sharitt (Leah), Shawn Patrick Sharitt (Mandy),and Karen Renee Register (Keith). Cheri deeply loved them and was extremely proud of their accomplishments. More importantly, she loved being Nana to Konnor Register, Korbin Register, Caleb Sharitt, Kynsey Register, Patrick Sharitt, Kamden Register, and Evan Sharitt. She was blessed with a sister, Linda Smith, and a younger brother, Mark Lewis. In addition, Cheri had many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was also preceded in death by her beloved parents, Cecil and Margaret Lewis. Cheri was fortunate to have been able to raise her children and not have to work outside the home. As her children grew older she enjoyed working for Wilson’s Florist--building lifelong friendships. She was a blessing to her family and those who knew her. Cheri had a big heart, a giving spirit, and a great affection for many people. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 11th at 11AM at Gardendale Heritage Funeral Home with Chapel Services at 12PM and burial to follow in Calcedonia Cemetery.
