Seth Atkinson

Benjamin “Seth” Atkinson, age 44, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of December 7, 2025. He was born on October 25, 1981 in Jefferson County Alabama. He graduated from Corner High School in 2000 and continued his education at the University of Alabama where he earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in accounting. Seth was employed as an accountant, and over the course of his career, he worked with Norwood Clinic for thirteen years and was most recently the financial director at Balch & Bingham, LLP. Seth was a faithful member of Gardendale First Baptist Church where he served in the student ministry and as a deacon. Seth was also an active board member at Morris Youth Association where he volunteered his time serving as softball and baseball commissioner and treasurer. Over the years, Seth enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He was a devoted husband for sixteen years and loving Daddy for thirteen years. During that time, he volunteered to coach his children in multiple sports activities. His favorite pastime and place to be was spending time in this role with the 4 L’s. Seth is survived by his loving wife Carmen; two daughters, Lola and Lexi; two sons, Luke and Levi; his parents, John and Carol Atkinson; one sister, Joy (Jeff) Benefield; father and mother-in-law, Tim and Angie Wilemon; two sisters-in-law, Cassie (Josh) Perry; Cara (Philip) Jewell; and one brother-in-law, Caleb Wilemon. Nieces and nephews, Tenley, Dyson, and River Benefield; Carter, Carsyn, Caden, Camden, Camryn, and Cooper Perry; Acie and Isaac Jewell; and a host of friends including special friends, Kyle Little, Kristi Martin, and Ashlyn Nilsen. Seth was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Guy and Orvella Atkinson; and his maternal grandparents, L.W. and Deatrice Boyd. The Atkinson family would like to recognize and offer special thanks to: Dr. Benjamin Jones and staff with Alabama Oncology, the staff at Grandview’s Medical Intensive Care Unit, as well as Seth’s nurse, Ty Godfrey, who provided exceptional and compassionate care during Seth’s final days. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 9th at Gardendale First Baptist Church-North Campus from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 10th at 11:00a.m. at Gardendale First Baptist Church-North Campus. Burial to follow at Kimberly-Morris Cemetery. Services provided by Gardendale Heritage Funeral Home.
