Randall J. Young

Randall Jerome Young, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home on March 13th, 2026. He was born on July 19th, 1938 on his parent’s farm in Hayden, AL to Isaac Levi & Bertha James Young. Randall attended Hayden school until the age of 14 when his parents sold the farm and moved to Norwood, where he went on to be a proud graduate of Phillips High School. Randall met his wife Joyce on a blind date. They fell in love and married on November 6th, 1959. They were happily married for 58 years until Joyce passed away in 2018, although in Randall’s heart he was married until the day he met his savior. They had two daughters Lynn & Regina. In addition, he cherished the relationship with his grandchildren Jesse (Megan) & Claudia Riley & was so thankful for the time he was able to spend with them. Randall was so proud of his children and grandchildren and was eager to tell anyone he met about them. Randall and Joyce moved to Gardendale in 1963 where he had a successful career in subdivision development and home building. Around 1970 he started a new endeavor with State Farm Insurance where he enjoyed being an agent and serving his policy holders. Randall had a successful career with State Farm and retired after over 30 years of service. He was a long-term member of Gardendale First Baptist Church where he enjoyed fellowship with his Sunday school class. Randall was also a founding member of The North Jefferson Rotary Club, where he held several officer positions, including president. Randall had a servant heart and he lived his life in accordance with Rotary’s “4- Way Test." He had many interests including Auburn football (War Eagle), golf and spending time with family & friends in Gulf Shores. Randall is proceeded in death by his wife Joyce; Parents Isaac Levi & Bertha Young; Sisters Hazel McDonald, Maytle Rice, Eunice Shipp, Eilene Mikell; Brother I.L. Young. Randall is survived by his daughters; Lynn Young and Regina Riley; grandson; Jesse (Megan) Riley; granddaughter; Claudia Riley. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 1pm in the Gardendale Heritage Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be receiving friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to The North Jefferson Rotary Club.
