Paul Robbins

ROBBINS, PAUL HUFF, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away May 6, 2007, at the age of 91 at Birmingham. He was born November 13, 1915 at Banner Mines, Alabama in west Jefferson County. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Walton Robbins, Sr. and Mattie Lou Huff Robbins, Sisters, Elsie Robbins Oglesby, Dorothy Robbins Bryan, and Kathleen Robbins Barnes Wyatt, brothers, William Walton (Bill) Robbins, Jr. and Charles Edward Robbins. He was raised in Birmingham where he attended school including University of Alabama Extension Division and later completed his degree in Electric Engineering from the International Correspondence School. He began his employment with Alabama Power Company and progressed to Local Manager at Blountsville and Warrior, Alabama. Later he became Distribution Engineer and then District Engineer at Oneonta, Alabama. Mr. Robbins retired from Joslyn Company where he was Sales Manager for Alabama and West Florida. Mr. Robbins helped organize and was the first president of Blountsville Lions Club, Past president of Warrior Lions Club, Anchor Boat Club, Vulcan Good Sam Camping Club, Goodtimers Camping Club and past secretary of the Oneonta Civitan Club. He served as a member of The Board Of Appeals for the City of Gardendale for Seven Years. Mr. Robbins was a member of First United Methodist Church of Birmingham for 57 years where he was a member of the Administrative Board and presently a member of the Honorary Administrative Board. He is past president of the George R. Stuart Sunday School Class, The Stuart-Blackwell Class and the Supper Club. He also was a member of the George R. Stuart Men Chorus. Mr. Robbins is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mattie Yessick Robbins, one daughter, Barbara Robbins Williams of Helena, three sons, Paul Ronald Robbins (Carolyn) of Gardendale, Gary Alan Robbins (Marie) of Finleyville, Pa. and Dale Eugene Robbins of Birmingham, ten grandchildren, Robb McDonald Williams of Calera, Christopher Dee Williams (Dana) of Pelham, Brooke Farrington Williams (Denise) of Birmingham, Paul Forrest Robbins (Kim) of Dallas, TX, Ginger (Steven) Johnson of Gardendale, Sarah Janelle Dahlgren of Weatherford, OK, Erin Rebecca Robbins of Finleyville, PA, Emily Ruth Robbins of Finleyville, PA Nathan Robert Robbins of Cottonwood, AZ, Noah Reuben Robbins of Finleyville, PA, five great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday May 9, 2007 from 5:30-8:00 pm. at Morgan's @ Gardendale Funeral Home. Services will be at Morgan's @ Gardendale Chapel on Thursday May 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with burial at Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Rev Herb Williamson and Dr. Ralph Bates officiating Morgan's @ Gardendale Funeral Home directing.
