Pastor Larry Keith Craig

Pastor Larry Keith Craig, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 30, 2023. He was born on September 28, 1938. He is survived by: Wife Jean Craig of Hayden AL, Daughter Kristi Craig of Hayden AL, Daughter Susan Gordon (Dave) of Tuscaloosa AL, Granddaughter Shelley Gordon of Tuscaloosa AL, Grandson Patrick Kelley (Kara) of Gardendale AL, Casey Richter (Alex) of Cullman AL, Great-grandson Jaxon Rodriguez of Tuscaloosa AL, Great-granddaughter Camryn Kelley of Gardendale AL. Prior to his service in the ministry, Larry Keith Craig served in the United States Navy for 10 years starting in 1955. He was an aviation electrician on an airship (blimp) and served on the aircraft carrier the USS Oriskany. He loved to reminisce about being in the Navy and visiting the National Navy Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida. He enjoyed traveling around the world with the Navy. His last tour was Adak, Alaska where he determined he had had enough…brrrrr. Larry first became famous by winning the Yo-Yo Twirler Expert Award and becoming a Cheerio Spinning Top Winner. He tried to pass this skill on to his daughters and grandchildren to no avail. 😊 It's almost impossible to put into words the legacy of a man with such a long, fulfilled life. Larry was a wonderful husband, dad, granddad, son, brother, uncle, and cousin to his family. He loved them so much and showed them in many ways. The family knew where to turn for Christian advice. His love was evident to all as he talked and bragged about his family. Larry made an impact in so many lives. He had a warm smile and a caring way which made people feel truly loved and listened to. God used him in ministry to love others who were hurting, to help them heal. During his 47 years of pastoring, many people answered the call to ministry under his mentorship and counseling. His faith was beyond reproach, and his love evident to anyone that ever came near. A visitation for Larry will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Gardendale Heritage Funeral Home, 2214 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at 12:30 PM at the Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL 35115.
