Jacquelyn Cornelius Morris

Jacquelyn Cornelius Morris went to be with the Lord Friday, September 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her faithful children, Craig Morris (Julie) and Paige Fitzgerald (Rob); five adored grandchildren, Mary Katherine Morris, Lora Ashley Morris, Elise Fitzgerald, Judge Kincade “Cade” Morris, Logan Fitzgerald; four siblings, David “Buddy” Cornelius (Nancy Joe), Betty Magraw (Dennis), Michael Cornelius (Kelley), and Mark Cornelius (Donna); special loved ones, Peggy Cornelius, Wayne and Sandra Morris, the Yorks and the Navaris; and countless more family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Judge Gary Morris. Jackie, born April 20,1946, was born and raised in Gardendale, Valedictorian of her graduating class at Minor High School and continued her love of education as a teacher for many years at Gardendale High School, near where she and Gary lived for most of their married life. Jackie and Gary were devoted Christians, nearly life-long members of Gardendale First Baptist Church, and enjoyed worshiping and leading Sunday School classes. She loved the Lord and believed in the power of prayer, especially for her grandchildren. She was always near a Bible, with at least one in every room in her house, and loved how much her family shared her deep faith. Endlessly dedicated to her children and grandchildren, Jackie never strayed too far from her TV or phone so she could watch any and all athletic games if she could not be there in person, from Gardendale to Fairhope to Furman. Lovers of beach time with family, Jackie and Gary never missed a 4th of July in Gulf Shores together, typically wearing matching t-shirts, a tradition dating back almost thirty years. She was constantly in the kitchen at the beach, regularly making an amazing breakfast casserole and a seemingly never ending stream of chocolate chip pancakes for her cherished grands. She will be missed by all but remembered for her unending love of her family and unyielding faith for her savior, Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11am at Gardendale Heritage Funeral Home; burial will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home.
