Gloria Gwen Strickland

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Gloria Gwen Strickland, of Morris, Alabama. She went home to be with the Lord on March 12, 2026, just two weeks after the passing of her devoted husband, Johnny Strickland. She was a proud graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School and spent many faithful years serving our community through her work at the District Attorney’s Office & Probate Court at the Jefferson County Courthouse where she was known for her dedication, kindness, and unwavering integrity. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving mother to four children, a deeply cherished grandmother, and a steady presence to all who knew her. She faithfully poured her life into others, especially through her many years teaching Sunday School for children at Enon Baptist Church, where she helped shape the faith and lives of countless young hearts. She loved her country deeply and carried a proud spirit of patriotism. Her life was marked by faith, generosity, and a quiet strength that encouraged and uplifted those around her. Those who knew her will remember her unwavering love for her family, her servant’s heart, and the way she showed up for the moments that mattered most. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the faith she shared so freely. She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Johnny, whom she deeply loved and faithfully walked beside for 62 years. She is survived by her children, Jay Strickland, Scott (Robin) Strickland, Blake (Angela) Strickland and Jeremy (Jeneane) Strickland; grandchildren, Kelsee (Taylor) Philpot, Kori Strickland, Kayman (Aaron) Beach, Sawyer (Camryn) Strickland, Sam (Emma Grace) Strickland, Aselefech Strickland, Mitke Strickland, Evie Strickland and Rohenn Strickland; great grandchildren, Preslee Philpot, Nolan Philpot, Vivian Philpot, Lydia Philpot, Pyper Strickland, Lakely Strickland, Natalie Beach, Braxton Beach, Elliot Beach, Lennon Beach, Oliver Strickland and Graham Strickland and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends who will continue to honor her life and the beautiful example she set. She is preceded in death by, her husband Johnny Murphy Strickland; her parents, Clarence Eugene and Alta Marie Adams; her sisters, Polly Brakefield, Judy Knopf and Ann Smith and her great granddaughter Hattie Ruth Philpot. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her. Her legacy will live on through the members of her family. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 8:30am to 10:30am at Gardendale Heritage Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Morris Cemetery at 11am.
